Marcy Guzman (K5)

My name is Marcy Guzman.  I am the lead teacher for the Kindergarten team and have worked at LoveWorks Academy since 2006.  I attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and acquired a degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education in 2001.  I am currently enrolled at Metropolitan State University in the Urban Teaching Program.  My husband and I have a 10 year old son named Manuel.  In my free time I enjoy painting, drawing, and spending time with my family and friends.  Prior to LoveWorks, I worked with children of various age groups throughout Duluth and North Minneapolis.

Rachel Monsaas (K5)


Hi! My name is Rachel Monsaas. I grew up in Lakeville, MN with my mom, dad, and older sister. I enjoy painting, photography, dance, and relaxing at my family’s cabin! I went to college at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have a Minnesota Teaching License for children birth through third grade. I have been working as a Kindergarten teacher at LoveWorks Academy since 2006. Prior to working at LoveWorks, I worked in a variety of childcare settings. For as long as I can remember I have worked with children and am excited for another opportunity to do so.

Mary Sarin (K5)


Hi ~ My name is Mrs. Sarin, formerly Ms. Poechmann. I live in Roseville, MN with my husband Leang. I earned my bachelor’s degree and extra graduate credits in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I am the middle of 5 kids, having 3 sisters and 1 brother with my mom and dad. I am very close with my family and love hanging out with them. I love to play softball & volleyball in my free-time. I also love to hang out with friends and family. I love to travel as well! This will be my 3rd year teaching at LoveWorks. I taught 3rd grade my 1st year and have now moved down to Kindergarten. I love the little ones!

I have been passionate about teaching for a very long time. Teaching drives me to help others succeed in all areas. I love being a support source for students of all grade levels and backgrounds. I feel that teaching gives me a purpose in life and that I was called to be in this profession for many reasons. LoveWorks Academy has given me the opportunity to share my girt of teaching with the students and their families here. I know that reaching out to these children makes a difference in some way in their lives whether it is big or small. I look forward to the coming years of teaching I will encounter. I am ready to learn about and meet our new students and their families this year. I know that we will learn a great deal from each other.

Sara Albert (1st Grade Teacher)

My name is Sara Albert. I grew up in a very small town of Long Prairie, Minnesota. After graduating from high school in May of 2000 I ventured out to the college of Moorhead State University Minnesota. In 2005 I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education. While in college I met my husband Tyler and we currently live in St. Michael, Minnesota. Some of my hobbies include, camping, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends!
I have been at Loveworks Academy for two years teaching first grade. I enjoy teaching here because it is such a welcoming and friendly place to be. I have known since I was very young that I had a passion for teaching. I love molding young minds and feeling that rush of happiness when a student masters a new concept. It is very important to me to make a positive impact on each and every student’s life both in and out of the classroom.

Maren Magsam (2nd – Grade Teacher)

My name is Ms. Magsam. I grew up in St. Cloud, MN and now live in Roseville. I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2007. After I finished college I spent a year living and working in England. I really love to travel!

I also love to be outside. Some of my favorite outdoor activities are: camping, walking, boating, swimming, and reading by the pool. I also enjoy watching movies, eating ice cream, going to Twins games, and laughing with my friends. I have been working at Loveworks for three years and I love the energy of the kids. They make life interesting and can always make me laugh!!


Pamela Beatty (3rd Grade Teacher)

My name is Pamela Marie Nickens-Beatty. I grew up in on the north side of Minneapolis, Minnesota. After completing North High School and years after rearing my family, I attended Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I graduated Magnum Cum Laude (Earning a 3.8 GPA) in Elementary Education. I started my career out being a teacher’s aide for 8 years in the Wilkinsburg district of Pittsburgh while attending Point Park University for 4 years. In 2006 I moved back to the Minneapolis area where I reside currently. I taught a Harvest Preparatory School for 3 years and now I am currently teaching at Loveworks Academy in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
This is my first year at Loveworks teaching fourth-grade .The family atmosphere is found everywhere in the building, from administration to the custodians. The students, teachers, administration and the entire staff have me made me feel welcomed in everyway.
I have always known that I had a passion for teaching. I remember when I was about 7 or 8, frequently placing my stuff animals on the floor and lining them up as if they were my students. I knew then that teaching was going to be my lifelong passion. Teaching is very important to me. To have young minds to mold into shape is a responsibility that I take very serious so I make it my priority to make sure that all students fill cherished and respected.The some of my hobbies include volunteering, reading the bible, cooking and walking around the many lakes of Minneapolis.


Brandhi Flowers (4th – 5th Grade Teacher)

My name is Brandhi LaShawn Flowers and I was born and raised in Clinton, LA. I attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where I received my B.A. in Early Childhood Development. I also attended Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA where I received my M.Ed. in Education as well as A.B.D. in K-12 Leadership. I have one daughter, Makynnah, who is a new addition to my family. I enjoy traveling, shopping, watching movies and listening to music.

I have been teaching at Loveworks for 2 1/2 years. I am passionate about teaching because it is my philosophy that every child has an amazing potential, some untapped, that must be realized in order to produce productive and purposeful people. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a supportive and stimulating environment, regarless of race and socioeconomic status and that is why I am here at Loveworks.

Kendra Hartigan (5th Grade Teacher)

Hello, my name is Mrs. Kendra Hartigan. I am a fifth grade teacher at LoveWorks Academy. I was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. I got married in April of 2005 to my husband Matthew Hartigan. I have parents that live in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and in-laws that live in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. I have one sister that has been blessed with two boys, at the ages of three and seven. I also have a sister in-law that has been blessed with a six year old son and a three year old daughter.

In my free time I enjoy spending my summers at the cabin, while visiting family. In the winter months, I enjoy skiing and sledding with my nieces and nephews.

I have been teaching at LoveWorks for three years. I enjoy working at LoveWork because it has a great family environment. The teachers at LoveWorks Academy respect one another and work great as a team. I love working with children and watching them progress through the year. Preparing our children for the future is my number one goal, and one that I take pride in.
